Hot Coffee and Love Poems

Happy Valentine's DayAnother bright day, and another day for contemplating life in all it’s glory. But only after a cup of very hot coffee. Obviously.

I gave Gail her Valentine’s Day card and gift first thing this morning – the very first copy of my new book, Poolside Poetry, because after all, the book is dedicated to her, which she never knew about. How many people can say they got that for Valentine’s Day?!

I got a couple of letters drafted for sending off to the official Edinburgh Fringe Shop and Press Office. I’ll finish them up and send them off tomorrow, then follow up with a phone call to try and arrange a meeting. I really don’t know why I never thought of them before, but there you go. Sometimes you can’t see the woods for the trees. That said, they might tell me to bugger off.

My poem, Love Is, originally penned for my sister’s wedding last July, was published in today’s Valentine’s Day issue of Circadian PoemsYou can read it here.

I found myself at a bit of a loose end in the evening. After receiving my card from Gail, we had pizza and chilli poppers for dinner, then Gail went to see her pal. I started reading the books I got at the weekend – very interesting, and I’m already wondering why I never got these last year.

I worked on some poetry and the kids book idea and watched some of the Brits. I’m glad I caught Oasis at the end, as they were fantastic. I thought Liam sounded a bit out of sorts but as a live band they are superb; powerful, moving and total rock ‘n’ roll.

I finalised my draft for my Scotland’s Treasure column in the spring issue of The Scruffy Dog Review. It will be a hefty read, containing and article about Edinburgh Printmakers, the Art Festival in Glasgow this year, a review of the Stiff Little Fingers gig in Glasgow next month, and possibly a theatre review, too.

Finally, it came time to move my Poolside Poetry manuscript from my WIP folder into the Complete folder. Always an emotional moment when I know I won’t touch it again. But it does help to clear my mind for other matters.
