Falling From The Sky Without A Parachute

parachutistToday I felt like I was falling from the sky without a parachute. Here’s why -

A parcel finally arrived for me at my day job – in the WRONG building. How on earth those pillocks in the mail office managed to send my parcel, which has my precise address on it right down to the floor section I sit in, is beyond me. Still, at least it got here and I can get my phone charged up again.

That’s what I thought, anyway. When I tried to plug it in it wouldn’t work – the wire at the plug had snapped. So I ended up ordering a new one for delivery tomorrow – after all that. Typical.

I suddenly realised that because I am going away this weekend I’ll need to have all my writing assignments in for Thursday night. That’s eight articles, by the way. Added to that is my compulsory 2k daily minimum on GitG, one chapter minimum on the re-working of Stella, work on my Slick synopsis, and some poetry work I want to complete for an up-coming contest. In other words, this is shaping into a busy week.

The day job itself was far too busy for my liking. Outwith that nightmare, though, I caught up with my email, got more work on Stella done, another couple of thousand words of GitG done, polished and posted my (now bi-weekly) Dog Blog article. Please check it out.

Most of my evening was spent researching and preparing the outline draft of the first four articles of my new assignment. These are the toughest ones of the eight, in that they are all about cruising (ships, not the gay pastime). The other four are about hard drive failure and recovery, something I’m well-versed with personally and in my day job, so they won’t need anywhere near as much research.

Some good news in today was that on Saturday at the Bestival festival (try saying that with a mouth full of peanuts), The Specials played their first gig together in 27 years, albeit minus Jerry Dammers. So in actual fact they played under the moniker, Terry Hall And Friends. It’s a step in the right direction. Fingers crossed they do in fact return to the studio then take the resulting album on the road.

If you are like me and have always wanted to know what it’s like to fall from the sky, have your parachute fail on you, smack into the ground, and survive, then click here.
